Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the season-opening trophy on 14 different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the showdown between the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup holders after the French winger found the net in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille struck two times in the closing moments to take a surprise advantage. First, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital leveler in the final moments to send the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all scored successfully for PSG to seal a 4-1 shootout win.

The record winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the last 13 seasons.
